TWIC Pilot Test
As required by the Security and Accountability For Every Port Act (SAFE Port Act) of October 2006, the TWIC pilot test was conducted in order to “…to test the business processes, technology, and operational impacts required to deploy [TWIC] card readers at secure areas of the maritime transportation system.” This test was completed on May 31, 2011 and as required by the SAFE Port Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security delivered a final report to Congress.
