TSA cannot advise you on whether or not you should file a claim with your insurance agency. This is entirely your choice and may depend on the details of your insurance coverage. However, If you have already been compensated by your insurance company, you may not collect any payment from the Federal Government. In this case your insurance company may file with TSA under the rules of subrogation.
If, due to the timing, you are compensated by both TSA and your insurance company, you MUST contact TSA and return any payment immediately.
