TSA Convenes Transit Policing and Security Peer Advisory Group

News & Happenings

November 1, 2006

John Sammon, TSA's Assistant Administrator for Transportation Sector Network Management, convened the inaugural meeting of the Transit Policing and Security Peer Advisory Group on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006.

This step marks a key advance in building a collaborative relationship between the transit law enforcement and security community and TSA and our federal partners, notably the Federal Transit Administration and the DHS Office of Grants and Training.

The Peer Advisory Group consists of 13 transit police chiefs and security directors representative of the broader community.  This forum will facilitate communications, exchange of information, and application of expertise in development of transit security strategies, programs, and initiatives.

Meeting by teleconference, the group discussed finalizing a one-year business plan to enhance transit security and set the first in-person meeting to coincide with the Transit Security Roundtable to be held in Newark, N.J., in mid-December.
