Just two weeks after TSA took over travel document checking at Lubbock (Texas) International Airport, a transportation security officer's discovery led to the arrest of an illegal foreign national.
When a passenger handed a suspicious-looking international driver's license to TSO Lisa Aguirre, she could not find the license in reference books and the laminate did not cover the entire card. Also, she was tipped off by the words "genuine" and "authentic" printed across the top, something rarely seen on legitimate identification.
Law enforcement officers confirmed the card was a fraud. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took the passenger into custody after determining he had overstayed his U.S. visit by four years.
