It was a belt buckle like no other. In fact, the buckle discovered by Transportation Security Officer Kecia Questel at Cyril E. King Airport, St. Thomas, turned out to be a torch lighter – a prohibited item.

While working at the checkpoint, Questel observed a passenger placing his items into a bin and, upon inspection, noticed that the buckle was "different." After closely examining the buckle and separating it from the belt, she discovered that the buckle was a torch lighter.

"Kecia is one of our best and we're very proud of her," said Federal Security Director Lee F. Duffy. "She did what we try to teach all of our TSOs to do: If your suspicions are aroused, follow through until you are completely satisfied that there is no threat."
