WASHINGTON, D.C – At approx 6:40 a.m., Security Officers at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) identified a firearm in the carry-on bag of a male passenger at the security checkpoint that serves concourses A and B.

The passenger in question left the bag with the firearm at the checkpoint and continued into the concourse without authorization. After an attempt to locate this passenger and out of an abundance of caution, authorities decided to evacuate concourses A and B at 7:11 a.m. All passengers were required to leave both concourses.

Concourses A and B were searched by canine teams  and other law enforcement officers with negative findings, and at 8:11 a.m., both concourses were reopened.

Passengers were re-screened and operations return to normal.
