Information on Incident at Eugene Airport

TSA officers at Eugene (Ore.) Airport identified a suspicious item in a passenger’s checked bag destined for United Express 6649 (Eugene-Denver). TSA examined the item and initially concluded that it did not pose a threat. Upon further scrutiny and out of an abundance of caution, local authorities were contacted. Local police notified the bomb squad which responded to the scene and established a safe zone around the item. The item was subsequently removed from the terminal area, the terminal was searched and was reopened.

Additionally, the flight was met by authorities in Denver and searched with canines with negative results. Further analysis by the FBI determined that the item was not an explosive device but contained common household items.
