Update on Gun at Reagan National

The security officer involved in the incident at Reagan National over the weekend was removed from security duties and TSA is pursuing disciplinary action. The investigation indicates that this is a case of human error. TSOs find firearms every day. Just last week, 14 guns were discovered at checkpoints around the country. On average TSOs find two guns a day.
We know this is not a systemic problem in that our testing shows Transportation Security Officers (TSO) have a very high success rate at finding fire arms. TSA’s vigorous training and testing protocols include testing officers in every lane at every checkpoint during every shift.
