TSA Statement on American Airlines Flight 136

News & Happenings

Based on a review of information from both American Airlines and the Transportation Security Administration at LAX, the individual in question on Flight 136 checked in at the counter, checked a bag and completed checkpoint screening. He was a regular passenger with a verified boarding pass, not an employee. There is nothing to indicate that he used employee transportation as reported earlier. We appreciate the flight crew’s vigilance in this matter.

As a matter of further information, individuals who enter thru the employee parking lot at LAX must undergo two forms of electronic verification and encounter two separate interactions with security personnel before having access to the airport. In addition, employees are subject to random screening activities at anytime in any place while on airport grounds.
