TSA Statement on LAX Incident

At approximately 10:55 a.m. PDT a male individual on the public side of the international terminal of Los Angeles International Airport claimed to have explosive materials in a backpack. Law enforcement officials responded and placed the individual in custody. A search of the area found an unattended bag and, out of an abundance of caution, a perimeter was established and the LAPD bomb squad responded and rendered the bag safe. The airport resumed normal operations at approximately 1:35 p.m.
